The genus Iris was first described by Charles de l’Eculuse in 1601, but the flower didn’t blossom into popularity in the US until the beginning of the 20th century when a merchant from Pennsylvania, important more than a hundred iris varieties from England along with catalogs detailing their growth.

That was the beginning of the American love for irises and could be considered the conception of the Oklahoma Iris Society as well.

Until renovation of  the Will Rogers Garden Exhibition Center, is completed,

 All OIS meetings will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in the will Rogers Park,

 OIS MEETING Fri. Dec 2nd 2016 will be a pot luck dinner with the meat and drinks being provided. Members should bring a side dish or dessert.

The program will be presented by Hugh Stout and will be a slide show of the 2016  AIS Convention.
